Welcome to the result of my positivity practice, where I spend 10 minutes per day thinking about what I’m enjoying, and finding value in.
A Song:
No song is easy to describe in words, but this one in particular is completely ineffable. I was literally shocked the first time I heard it, and I hope it produces the same reaction for you. To maximize your listening experience, I’ll encourage you to find a time where you can stop doing something else and not be interrupted for 11 minutes, and when you have excellent speakers or headphones to listen to this. It’s worth it.
A Picture:
This is one of my favorite places - Avalanche Creek in Glacier National Park. This portion of the creek is pure magic. The glacial blue water that’s carved an amazing slot canyon amongst a cedar grove. It’s very special, and very accessible.
Some Inspiration:
The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. I read this book quite a while ago, but some of the themes are getting more and more important, so I thought that now would be the right time to recommend it. We’re seeing something, particularly in California, that is dangerous and should be more of a cause for concern. That is, the collapse and subsequent privatization of formerly government services - namely, education and policing. In essence, wealthy people are buying private security services, and creating private schools while demanding that they be given the option to opt out of paying taxes that fund the public version of these services. That’s very bad for everyone who can’t afford to hire private teachers and private security. It’s further a dangerous thing to even have as a part of our national dialogue. Read this book on Overdrive/Libby apps for free, or buy from a local bookstore.

This app helps you write better. Long form written content feels like it’s a lost art sometimes. Short form content like texts, tweets, and short video have certainly contributed to a reduction in attention span. So, I like to take time to both write and read regularly. If you’re interested in becoming a better writer, this app is designed to improve sentence structure, word choice, and grammar. You can think of it as the grammar features in MS Word on AI steroids. It’s a huge help when you’re crafting a long, complex document and things just aren’t flowing as well as you might like. It’s also free.
